UCLA Extension (Summer 1990) (Bradbury Thompson)

In 1990. the UCLA Extension started inviting celebrated designers to work on the covers for their course catalogues. And here’s a nice poster. But we’re talking about the course catalogues right now. Or, at least this one by Bradbury Thompson. It’s a striking design and between the covers there’s a profile of Thompson and an info about ordering the cover as a poster. Potentially even more interesting, though, are the descriptions offered on commercial art and computer graphics. It’s a pretty fascinating look back at what was being offered just as the personal computer was becoming our standard tool. Although the cover has been reproduced often, it’s rare to find then actual thing in real life. From the collection of Steve Heller.
