Výrocní zpráva 1933

$200.00

During the interwar period (1918–1938), the Czechoslovak education system was inherited from the Austro-Hungarian Empire but underwent significant modernization to reflect the values of the new democratic republic. They developed modern “Real Schools,” which taught modern languages, math, and natural sciences. This is the annual report about those schools. But you don’t care about any of that. You’re interested in this lovely cover that reflects the Constructivist and Functionalist movements that were in full swing at this time. It’s a lovely example of interwar lettering in eastern Europe. And get this: the cover was drawn by Cejka, a 6th grade student at the school. The linoleum from which it was printed was cut by Heral, a 3rd grader. Nobody knows what became of Cejka and Heral, but they sure did make a great cover.
