Lettering and Calligraphy in Current Advertising and Publishing
The A-D Gallery once presented an exhibition of lettering and calligraphy in current (circa 1945) advertising and publishing under the direction of George Salter and Paul Standard. This is the catalogue. It’s a nice thing, showing the work of a handful of letterers well-known and unknown to us. But what’s especially nice is that this copy was inscribed by Standard to Alfred Fairbank and is accompanied by a separate note apologizing for leaving his work (and the work of Van Krimpen, Hammer, and Warde) out of the catalogue. A good book with a remarkable document and provenance. (This came to us from Inge Druckrey.)
