Encyclopaedia of Type Faces (1970)

$40.00

Sigh. This book. When were young we were entrusted with a key to the bindery of David Bourbeau. He let us use his beautiful board shear and go through his library when he wasn’t around. We probably went through every nook and cranny of that place. But one thing we’d spend loads of time with is this book. It is not fancy and it is not rare. It is simply an exceptional encyclopedia of type faces. It has things you’ll recognize and things you won’t. We have poured over this book countless times and we are still finding faces that’re new to us. Or, we’ve learned things since we last looked at it and are seeing old things in a new way. We can’t recommend this one enough.
