Hobo Signs

Part artist’s book. Part reference book. A really nice thing. It gives a casual and graphic history of hobo signs, the marks that migrant workers left for one another as way to warn and inform as they travel across communities. Think of them as a secret graphic language about survival. Beautiful and useful—and a remarkable show of restraint because it is not set in this face.
